Pororoka is Ukrainian dark-folk band founded in Kyiv in 2017 by singer and songwriter Svitlana Sugak, who was born and formed in Lugansk city on the East of the country(occupied by russia since 2014). The band name means a wave, which appears twice in a year on the Amazon River, when Atlantic Ocean invades into it. Amazing phenomenon which precisely depicts how it is to live in Ukraine: you are definitely on the edge and in the center of tremendous confrontation between two opposite forces. Pororoka raises topics of life and death, love and destiny; represents the neo folk culture of the region, rethinks Ukrainian culture roots.
